If you want to know about the ins and outs of hoboing in the late 19th century, this is the book. London knows all the verses to "Big Rock Candy Mountain." - 4.0 out of 5 stars from Alistair Goodwin NZ -- Surprising : I was blown-out that such a young writer would be such a bum, and I mean that in a good way. That Jack London would be riding the railroads helps explain why I like his stuff. (He was also a great sailor) Seems like he grew up the hard way and not many authors do that sort of thing. J. -- Jacks Hobo Blues : An account of Jack Londons time as a Hobo, travelling across America, hopping the freight trains being thrown off the freight trains, time spent in prison, almost freezing to death, learning to jump onto a moving wagon without losing your legs, meeting the pros who spend a lifetime doing this, learning the slang the do's and dont's, the comradeship and seeing America as he wanted to see it.
